THE COLLECTOR: A WORD ON SOUNDTRACKS

Movies, along with the soundtracks, impacted me so dramatically in those last years of high school and on into college.  The soundtrack for Great Expectations with artists such as David Garza, Pulp, Scott Weiland, Iggy Pop, Chris Cornell, and The Verve Pipe just opened doors in terms of my thinking, my emotions, and what the world was about.

I saw Rushmore while a sophomore.  This movie and its soundtrack spurned a whole new musical fascination with British Rock: The Stones, The Faces, The Kinks, Cat Stevens and the Who.  Similarly the way the remake of the Thomas Crown Affair introduced me to the powerful yet peaceful voice Nina Simone with Sinnerman, and how Wes did it again with David Bowie in The Life Aquatic.  Kind of like when you hear any Cindy Lauper song, you automatically think of the Goonies.

I discovered music through films.  Posters only reinforce these experiences.
